Hey There!

You've made it to this part of my eportfolio!

In the midst of a pandemic, this page will highlight my realizations and experiences while learning and engaging in the sport of swimming and aquatics.

REFLECTION

A little bit of awareness can save hundreds of lives!

I thought this course would be impossible to continue due to the pandemic, but with to the university's efforts and creativity, a Pilot-Run-Face-to-Face Class was launched. We, the BPHE-III students, were one of the program chosen to participate in the Pilot-Run-Face-to-Face Classes. We're also grateful for the chance the university has given us, especially the fact that they've prioritized our safety. They also provided us with a health kit that contained a face mask, alcohol, and vitamins to keep us safe and well during the restricted face-to-face lessons. Not only that, but we are pleased to the university for covering the cost of our red cross training for this course. It would be really beneficial to all of us who are struggling financially.

The training taught me the value of First Aid and how it can help save lives. First aid is typically used for minor cuts and scratches, but it can also apply to the initial response to any medical emergency. In a traumatic injury situation, administering first aid promptly and accurately can make all the difference in saving a life. During the training, they also taught us the proper procedure in responding in an emergency situation, which will be quite useful for us the rescuer. Incidents involving unconscious people are very difficult to handle. At the sight of an unconscious person, many people would scream, fear, and leave rather than become involved. It's important to remember that the initial few minutes following an accident are crucial for the casualty's recovery, so what you know and can do during this time can have a significant impact on the injured individual. Knowing how to do first aid and CPR is essential for ensuring a victim's safety and increasing their chances of survival. It's a useful tool for yourself, but it also looks incredible on a job. It's a step in the right direction if you can improve your chances of getting and keeping a job. Many times in your life, whether camping, hiking, or long road journeys, you may have been faced with an emergency circumstance that required CPR or first aid skills. Getting a CPR and First Aid certificate is a quick and inexpensive method to save a life.

Overall, we had a great experience and learnt a lot, especially from our professor, Mr. Rolly Balbutin, and the Red Cross Agusan del Sur Chapter, who supervised us and taught us about first aid although the activity.  Those skills, as well as the knowledge, are incredibly valuable, especially in an emergency. In general, this course has taught me that no matter what the circumstances are, if I am determined to learn, I can overcome them with the support of our Almighty God and the people who have helped us, such as the PNU-Mindanao administration and our professor Sir Rolly Balbutin.
